The Anti-Corruption Research Network: Terms and Conditions of Use

The following terms and conditions (the “Terms and Conditions”) govern your use of this website (from hereon referred to as “the ACRN website”), and any content or information made available to, from or through this website, including any sub-domains thereof. This website is maintained by Transparency International (TI) as an information resource on corruption and corruption-related research and related items such as datasets, curriculum, events, jobs, funding opportunities, etc. to those persons and institutions that may choose to access or use the ACRN website (from hereon referred to as “Users”). Your use of the ACRN website, your registration on the ACRN website and your provision to us of any content or personal information shall constitute your acceptance and agreement to these Terms and Conditions.

The details of these Terms and Conditions are as follows:


Content of the ACRN website

The ACRN website features information about corruption research and related information that we hope would be valuable to researchers, research institutes, practitioners, policy makers and students of corruption.

Registered users of ACRN can post various types of content on the site such as research events, marketplace items and information about new datasets. They can also comment on posted items and discuss research topics in the Forum. Research articles are posted by the ACRN editor and contributing editors and by occasional contributors invited by TI. TI retains final editorial control over all content published on the ACRN website.


Registration of Users

Users may browse through the website without formally registering as Users. However, Users are encouraged to register if they wish to benefit fully from the content and services provided by the website, for example, posting information on upcoming events, jobs and funding opportunities, new datasets etc. The registration process will involve creating a profile and an account with a User name and password which you agree to guard as confidential information. Users agree to provide accurate, current and complete information at all times and to review, maintain, correct and update such information in a timely manner.

Once registered, all Users are bound to the ACRN User Agreement.


Links to other Websites

Links from the ACRN website may take Users to other websites that are not controlled by TI. Such links are provided in good faith and solely to assist Users in finding additional information on topics that may be useful to them.  In providing such links, TI does not necessarily endorse such websites nor is it responsible for the content or privacy practices of such websites. Use of any such links by Users will not render TI liable to them or any other person for loss or damage of any kind. Copyright Protection

All content on this website (“Content”), including without limitation, the text, design, documents, graphics, interface, sound, music, and video, is the property of Transparency International e.V. unless otherwise noted, and is protected by German, United States, and international copyright laws.

Transparency International grants you a limited license to access, use, print, and copy this site for personal, informational, or academic purposes, provided that any and all copyright, trademark and other proprietary rights notices, including the copyright notice provided below, appear on all copies; the Content is not modified or altered in any way; and no graphics are used separate from accompanying text.

Except as described above, you may not alter, reproduce, reprint, copy, sell, or otherwise transfer or use the Content without the express written permission of Transparency International.



If you believe in good faith that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please provide us with the following information:

  1. An electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright interest;
  2. A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed;
  3. A description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located on the ACRN website;
  4. Your address, telephone number, and e-mail address;
  5. A statement by you that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  6. A statement by you, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner’s behalf.

Upon receipt of the written notification containing the information as outlined above:

  1. TI may remove or disable access to the material that is alleged to be infringing;
  2. TI may forward the written notification to such alleged infringer; and
  3. TI may take reasonable steps to promptly notify the alleged infringer that it has removed or disabled access to the material.

You may want to seek the advice of independent legal counsel before filing a notification of infringement.


Storage and Use of Personal Information

TI is committed to protecting the privacy of the information that Users provide to ACRN. Please consult the ACRN Privacy Policy for more details.

Complaints Regarding Content

To notify the ACRN administrators of content that infringes your rights please see the procedure outlined in the Copyright Protection section above.

In the event you believe that the any specific content on the ACRN website is otherwise unlawful, please provide us with the following:

  1. A description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located on the ACRN website;
  2. A statement specifying in detail which laws you believe are being breached, and why the Specified Content does so;
  3. A statement by you, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information in your notice is accurate; and
  4. Your electronic or physical signature (as appropriate).

When we receive a notice that complies with the above requirements, we will evaluate the information you provided (including, if appropriate, forwarding the notice to, or otherwise contacting the source of the specified content), and if appropriate in our judgment, remove or disable access to the specified content. In such case, we may notify the source of the specified content of your complaint and our action taken. In some cases, if the source of the specified content provides us with information indicating that the specified content has been removed wrongly, we may reinstate the specified content. Our take-down and re-instatement procedures are and remain at our sole discretion.

Amendment of the Terms and Conditions

The Terms and Conditions are subject to amendment at any time in TI’s sole discretion, without any prior notice. However, Users will be notified of any amendment to the Terms and Conditions by postings on the ACRN website. Users’ continued use of the ACRN website thereafter will be deemed as acceptance by Users of the amendments.


Termination or Suspension of Service

TI may suspend or terminate access to any subset or subsection of the ACRN website with or without cause at any time without prior notice. TI may, however, at its own discretion, give notice of suspension or termination in the same way that other notices are provided to ACRN Users.



TI may give all notices that it is required to give Users by posting such notices on the ACRN website or, in the case of individual suspension or termination of access, at TI’s discretion, by sending the notice to User’s e-mail address that has been provided to ACRN.
