Assessing Transparency and Corruption of European Union Institutions

Topic: National Integrity System for the EU University Involved: Willy Brandt School of Public Policy Students Involved: 9 Year: 2012-2013 Transparency International Chapter: Transparency International Secretariat

While the EU institutions officially emphasise integrity, transparency, and to some extent accountability, in practice this is neither easily assessed nor accorded sufficient importance by the institutions themselves. The students from the Willy Brandt Public Policy School therefore recommend using the National Integrity System to assess EU public bodies, with the caveat that an extra indicator regarding accessibility of information be considered.
