Research Article 'Performing' Bribery in China - Guanxi-Practice, Corruption with a Human Face
This article analyses the entangled relationship between corruption and the so-called guanxi-practice, which is a form of reciprocal conduct that is ubiquitous in China. Unlike most current academic studies on corruption in China which focus on the theme of how the political, economic and social environments have caused corruption at the macro-level, this paper takes a micro-view. It concentrates on how corruption, notably bribery, takes place between a briber and the bribed and challenges the conventional view on the causal relationship between bribery and guanxi-practice.

Call for Papers C header 1st Global Conference on Transparency Research
The purpose of the conference is to bring together scholars from a wide range of fields including sociology, anthropology, political science, public administration, economics, political economy, journalism, business, and law who study issues of governmental transparency. This is the first large meeting of its kind to bring together leading scholars from throughout the world to collectively advance our understanding of the impact and implications of transparency policies that involve governments, either directly or indirectly. This includes policies on access to information held by and about governments, transparency relationships between government entities, transparency relationships between governments and private and nonprofit entities, and access to information held by government about individuals. We are interested in learning about the effects of these policies and the processes around which they are developed and implemented.

Call for Papers Pascal source code 2nd Interdisciplinary Market Studies Workshop
The aim of this workshop, on 7th- 8th June 2012, is to explore the possibilities and potentialities of markets and how these may be translated into ‘really existing’ markets. Particular emphasis is placed on the ordering or civilising processes (social and economic) that underlie attempts at marketisation, and the values or ‘orders of worth’ they are conceived upon. We particularly welcome in depth empirical studies of marketisation processes in new areas and of major changes in existing markets from academic researchers and doctoral students.
