Visiting Scholar Fellowships at the United States study center, University of Sydney
University of Sydney
up to 12 months
The US Studies Centre invites applications for Visiting Scholar Fellowships for 2015-16 (1 June 2015 - 31 May 2016).
A small number of stipends of up to $34,000 (AUD) will be available for academics who take leave from their home institutions and wish to spend 1-12 months at the US Studies Centre. To the greatest extent possible, the proposed period of the fellowship should fall in the Australian academic year (August-November 2015; March-June 2016). Funds are meant to supplement sabbatical or other salary; the university ise unable to provide additional research funds. The deadline for applications is 24 November 2014 for visits to begin as early as June 2015.
The criteria for selection include:
- demonstrated evidence of first-rate scholarship on any aspect of American or US studies;
- potential synergies with academic staff affiliated with the Centre; and
- willingness to interact with the larger Australian academic community.
The university expects that Fellows will use the stipend to make progress on a serious writing project for which the US Studies Centre will be credited for support and will, while in residence, make a formal presentation of the research.
