Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 100 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it. TI-Secretariat is currently seeking an Intern to work on the Global Corruption Barometer for the Research & Knowledge Department.

Main function: Assisting the Research and Knowledge Department in developing and producing its research outputs for the Global Corruption Barometer in 2016

Key tasks:

  • Use SPSS to analyse TI’s Global Corruption Barometer, Corruption Perceptions Index, and National Integrity
  • System Assessments data sets as required
  • Use Excel to produce charts and tables of results
  • Conduct background research for ongoing and planned research projects
  • Assist in carrying out background literature reviews related to focus areas
  • Organize interdisciplinary workshops and other events on anti-corruption issues conducted by the Research
  • and Knowledge Department
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluation of the main deliverables by the Research and Knowledge Department
  • As necessary, assist with fundraising activities, such as project proposal writing
  • Sourcing various suppliers of research services and gathering quotes
  • Other administrative or research tasks as required

Knowledge, experience, and skills:

  • Enrolled student in social science, political and economic disciplines, communications, or other relevant fields
  • Excellent English language skills (working language at TI Secretariat) required
  • Experience in using quantitative data analysis software (e.g. STATA, SPSS) and Microsoft Excel
  • Proven research and information synthesis skills
  • Experience in editing research reports an advantage
  • Knowledge of French and/or Spanish an asset
  • Strong written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail

Starting date: As soon as possible

Duration: 3-6 months (preferably 6 months), depending on type of internship pursued (see below)

Remuneration: EUR 450 per month

Location: Berlin, Germany
